1. Clean your fireplace with washing-up liquid every week
For proper upkeep, clean your bioethanol fireplace gently: wipe the inside with a damp sponge and a little washing-up liquid every week.
This weekly clean stops surface deposits from building up over time.
Our tip: do not use the scouring side of the sponge, which could scratch the metal surface.
2. Clean the burners with a stainless steel product every month
To protect the outer surface of the burner, we recommend using a stainless steel cleaner. Apply the product to the surface to be cleaned. Let it dry, then, once it has set, buff the metal vigorously with a soft cloth dipped in warm water. You can also clean the accessible inner part of the burner.
Our advice:
- Remove every trace of the product before the next burn.
- Do not put any product inside the burner, not even water. It could damage it.
- We advise against cleaning the burner with chemicals such as acetone, alcohol or white spirit. Not only could these damage the metal, but a small amount would always remain and be burnt during the next use. That could give off unpleasant odors and create a safety problem.
In terms of upkeep, you simply need to keep an eye on refilling the burner with bioethanol. Take care: refilling must be done once the liquid has completely cooled. Better still if it has completely evaporated.
Choose the right fuel
Do not use gel bioethanol
Using a gel ethanol is not advisable in a fireplace.
The additive mixed into the ethanol to turn it into a gel does not burn. It ends up forming solid deposits that build up in the tank and cause it to deteriorate prematurely. Choose instead the quality of a liquid bioethanol.
